On Wednesday 18 July Glen Eira City Council won the Yarra Valley Water – Outstanding Local Government Initiative in Collection/Processing/Marketing for their food waste recycling project at the Australian Organics Recycling Association Awards. Since the introduction of food waste recycling on 1 May 2018, 11,000 kitchen caddies have been delivered to residents and already there has been a significant reduction in the volume of waste to landfill and emissions.
